Japan: First tradefair of the year

The Aceitunas Torrent tradeshow calendar starts this year at the Supermarket Trade Show (SMTS) in Tokyo, Japan. SMTS is considered the most important supermarket food distribution tradeshow in Asia. Following our participation at another important Japanese tradeshow (Foodex), Aceitunas Torrent has returned to Japan to present its products at SMTS for the first time. From 12-14 February we presented our new aromatised olives in the Spanish exporters pavilion. The trip was organized by the Spanish Federation of Food and Beverage Industries (FIAB) with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.

Oliva Clan seduces the Japanese market

This first experience at SMTS was particularly positive for Aceitunas Torrent because we presented our new range of aromatised olives, Oliva Clan. The product is presented in an innovative, fun and convenient vacuum-packed can, which is easy to open, liquid-free, and totally safe for children.

Our area manager, Luis Vilchez, who was present at the show, was pleased to report back that the interest shown by local distributors opens up a range of future business opportunities for Aceitunas Torrent in the Asian market.

Japan: the 8th biggest market for Spanish agri-food exports

February 1 marks the first anniversary of the beginning of the EU-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA). Japan has eliminated customs duties on more than 90% of EU agri-food exports, and this has resulted in a huge increase in trade between the two economic powers. Japan is now the 8th destination of Spanish exports globally and food and beverage exports play an important role in this.

2020 is a very special year for Aceitunas Torrent. We are looking forward to presenting our latest and most innovative olive products at some of the most important international food fairs. Upcoming destinations? Alimentaria (Barcelona) and PLMA (Amsterdam). See you soon!
