The General Assembly of ASEMESA has appointed Francisco Torrent, CEO of Aceitunas Torrent, as the new president of the Spanish Association of Table Olive Exporters and Producers (ASEMESA). This appointment marks a new boost for the sector, with leadership committed to institutional strengthening and the competitive development of the Spanish table olive industry.
The succession follows the end of José Ignacio Montaño’s term, who led ASEMESA for two terms. The Assembly expressly acknowledged his outstanding work, highlighting his dedication, leadership, and key contribution to the positioning and cohesion of the sector both nationally and in international markets.
Córdoba Leadership at the Helm of the Sector
For the first time, ASEMESA has a president from Córdoba and leading a Córdoba-based company, Aceitunas Torrent, thus reinforcing the plural and representative nature of the organization. This appointment reflects the geographic and business diversity that characterizes the Spanish table olive sector.
With over half a century of experience, Aceitunas Torrent is one of the leading companies in the production and export of table olives. The selection of Francisco Torrent strengthens the institutional presence of companies committed to quality, innovation, and sustainable development.
Commitment to the Future of the Table Olive Industry
In his first statements as president, Francisco Torrent expressed his strong commitment to ASEMESA’s core objectives:
- Strengthening the role of the Association as the institutional representative of the sector in its relations with government and with European and international organizations.
- Promoting greater cohesion among member companies, fostering collaboration and joint efforts to face shared challenges.
- Ensuring a regulatory and market environment that allows sector companies to operate with competitiveness, legal certainty, and sustainability.
A united, strong, and recognized industry
Torrent emphasized the strategic value of belonging to ASEMESA, an association that represents forward-looking companies committed to actively defending their shared interests and building a strong, modern sector.
He also called on the government to properly acknowledge and value the associative commitment of companies that actively contribute to strengthening the productive and organizational fabric of the sector. Compared to those that choose not to join collective structures, those that do demonstrate a solid commitment to the present and future of the industry.
A presidency in service of the sector
The new president publicly thanked the Assembly members for the trust they have placed in him and assured he will give his utmost in this new stage, with the support of a professional team and all the companies that are part of ASEMESA.
“I take on this responsibility with enthusiasm, dedication, and a clear vocation of service to the entire sector. Only through unity and collaboration can we successfully face the challenges ahead,” he stated.
